A downloadable mod

A behind-the-scenes fix-up mod for The Sims 4. The game leaves a lot of loose ends dangling: things it keeps retrying forever, work it repeats when nothing has changed, and features that quietly stop working after you travel. Loose Ends ties them up, so your game runs smoother and your Sims stop getting stuck.

There’s nothing to set up and nothing new to click. Install it and play.

What you’ll notice

A faster game

  • Pie menus open faster, especially with lots of mods installed, for Sims with many moodlets, and for Sims in a dynasty.
  • Sims decide what to do faster. In testing, a Sim’s autonomy decisions were up to 3x faster, especially on busy lots and with mods that add interactions through traits.
  • Busy lots lag less, high schools especially.

Fewer stuck Sims

  • Pets stop trying to wake up Sims who aren’t even asleep, over and over.
  • Sims stop repeatedly starting chats with Sims they can’t actually talk to.
  • Visitors who’ve been told to leave but can’t (for example, while wearing a towel) no longer stand around your lot for hours. They’re sent home.
  • Sims are no longer refused interactions as “far too Tense” or “far too Uncomfortable” while they’re in a good mood.

Things that keep working after you travel

After every trip, the game used to stop noticing certain events until you reloaded your save: relationship and club changes, roommates, rabbit holes, Sims being reset, and more. Now they keep working.

Business and career cleanup

  • Small business employees aren’t penalized again for shifts that already ended.
  • Ended restaurant chef shifts no longer react to Build mode and resets.

Safe by design

Loose Ends never changes how your game plays. It only fixes the bugs and the wasted effort.

  • Patches: every time the game starts, Loose Ends checks that the game code each fix relies on is exactly what it expects. If a patch or another mod has changed it, that fix simply stays off.
  • Errors: if a fix ever runs into a problem, it switches itself off and your game carries on as normal.
  • Notifications: if anything is switched off, you’ll get one notification when you enter Live mode telling you what and why. If everything’s working, you won’t see anything at all.

Want a fix off?

Open the cheat console (Ctrl+Shift+C) and type looseends.status to see what each fix is doing. Type looseends.disable followed by the fix’s name to turn one off for that session.
